NIKOS VEROPOULOS WHITE FEATHER Official
First period (2002 - 2003)
And the name of the band is ARROWHEAD!
This unique musical ensemble was formed and founded in September 2002 in Athens, Greece, by White Feather, a songwriter and musician, who was serving as an Ambassador of the Lakota Nation in Greece at the time.
White Feather, using his cultural and musical knowledge he attained by living many years with the Indians of the United States and beyond, he proposed his project to fellow musicians, who accepted it and participated with great enthusiasm, and this is how this band was created, with the sole purpose to introduce the music of these native peoples to the large audiences of his homeland.
ARROWHEAD was meant to be indeed the only band which would perform live the music of the American Indians in Europe at that particular period of time, the beginning of the new milleneum!
White Feather collaborated with first class Greek & American musicians, who became the original members of the band and the rehearsals took place in September and October of 2002 at the Lakota Embassy, located in the center of Athens!
The original band members of ARROWHEAD were:
White Feather: Main vocals, Tarahumara shamanic drum, harmonica, musical direction and management.
Nikos Ghiolias: Electric and acoustic guitars
Kostas Makarios: Electric and synthesized guitars
Joe Tornabene: Flutes and saxophones
Angelo Papadakos: Upright and electric bass, backup vocals
Rania Liarmakopoulou: Cello
Solis Barki: Drums, ethnic percussion, didgeridoo, backup vocals
The band became active in November of that year, when the first live performances started at various Athenian music halls, attended by lots of ethnic music enthusiasts and became an immediate success.
Southern Cross (Σταυρός του Νότου), Voices (Φωνές), Drunk Moon (Μεθυσμένο Φεγγάρι), Cultural House (Σπίτι Τέχνης Λώλη), are only some of the music halls of the city that hosted the performances of ARROWHEAD, which in some cases were recorded live on location.
From those live performances a Cd was recorded the following year (2003), entitled "ARROWHEAD Live in Athens", which was produced by White Feather for EPIMATEO RECORDS ~ Brazil, and which is available for those interested until today.
(Below you can see the Cd covers also containing the recorded material)
The band performed in Athens for about two years, before it dismantled on December 2003, when White Feather had to move to Brazil.
Second period (2015 - 2016)
Twelve years later ARROWHEAD was back!!!
After a long Odyssey, White Feather returned from Brazil to his homeland and reunited with his friends, the ones who were still active in Athens, in order to put the band together again!
In August 2015 ARROWHEAD was once again ready to start a new era, because the show had to go on!
Under White Feather's management, who continued of course to be the main vocalist, the band took off for another round, another two years of quality music of the American Indians and beyond, before retiring and entering the history books.
The new ARROWHEAD consisted of these five characters:
White Feather: Main and backup vocals, Indian flute, acoustic guitar, shamanic drum, ritual percussion, harmonica,
musical direction
Nikos Ghiolias: Electric and acoustic guitars, backup vocals
Orestis Moraitis: Keyboards, piano
Apostolos Kaltsas: Bass, backup vocals
Solis Barki: Drums, ethnic percussion, didgeridoo, backup vocals
The band's last promotion was made with the following statement:
"New horizons are to be expected from now on, please give us your support and follow us.
Remember, life is too short, don't be hesitant to expand your knowledge by learning about other cultures and their music.
Support our band, after all, we are the mighty warriors, the keepers of balance and harmony, we are ARROWHEAD, the voice of all natives of this rotten planet"
Alas, due to a devastating world economic crisis that hit Greece very badly at that period of time, audiences slowly disappeared and the band without any support had to dismantle once again.
ARROWHEAD'S last performance took place in Athens, on May 16th, 2016.
Later on that year (2016) EPIMATEO RECORDS released the band's second CD, recorded live in Athens and containing songs selected from ARROWHEAD'S last five performances, which took place at three different music stages:
The Glass Music Theater (Γυάλινο Μουσικό Θέατρο), HolyWood Stage and 1002 Nights (Χίλιες και δυο νύχτες).
The cover of the band's second live CD is shown below, entitled "ARROWHEAD Live in Athens Vol 2"
